Capilano Suspension Bridge

 

CAPILANO SUSPENSION BRIDGE

On my vacation to Canada in the month of April this year, me, my cousin and our mothers decided to visit some ancient wonders of Vancouver. Yes, Capilano suspension bridge. This bridge is over 100 years old and people love to test themselves by walking on it. Sure, it sounds scary at first, especially with a crowd on it, but walking on this bridge soon turns from a thrilling adventure to a fun walk! First, we walked over the bridge.


Then, as we went over to the other side, we had breakfast. There was a small area with benches so people could have their meals. We were carrying our own breakfast and were sure to not feed the squirrels, even the cute ones. Of course, me and my cousin (sister) had a particular urge to feed them, but we had to stop since there was a sign -
 

Later on our way, we spotted another sign, saying Dr. Wood's Explorers, pointing to a lovely treehouse-like structure. My cousin and I went inside, and the instructors handed us worksheets which would guide us. They were almost like a treasure map. They gave us directions on the sheets, and those directions lead to fun facts about the animals nearby and clues. There were also some activities. For example, there were three fake tree barks with age marks on them. The worksheets told us to check our height. For twelve years, we could see how tall the tree was. Which means, if I was a 12 year old cedar tree, I would be that tall.
The fun part was that we were walking around the trees! 


After solving all the clues, we went over to one of the instructors and handed over our worksheets. We got a special prize, too! Two seed bands. We tied them around our wrists and after going back home, planted them so they would grow into plants. 
Then all of us decided to go on the cliff walk. Again, it sounds scary, but is SUPER fun.

There were a few turns, and we reached another special place. There were three small boulders on which water was dripping continuously. On top of each boulder, there was a sign that told us how many years the water had been falling on that spot. 5 years, 15 years and 50 years. On the five years boulder, there was not a big amount of erosion. On the 15 years boulder, we could see how the water was affecting the rock. And on the 50 years boulder, there was a huge amount of erosion made! It was so fascinating to watch!



In the end, it was an amazing experience!!
